The Teamster managed plan was failing and...I agree. The Teamster managed plan was failing and UPS wants to protect it's employees. UPS is a quality company with quality management and a quality workforce. Quality that, in part, comes from the accountability of a contract. Employees need protection from bad management and union contracts help. <BR/><BR/>Speculating on whether the Teamster Pension will become another liability for the american taxpayer is a weak anti-union argument. <BR/><BR/>United Airlines management and Glenn Tilton created the original scam by defaulting on their employees pension plan. They should all go to jail like Ken Lay was well on his way before he kicked the bucket. The difference between UPS and United is the quality of management. The umbrella of a union contract is the best most employees can do to protect themselves from theives like Tilton, United, Lay and Enron. Tilton rakes in millions($23,809,557 plus over a million shares of stock in 2006) while employees who have worked a lifetime lose their retirement to pay his bonus. I'm sure you'll all argue that Tilton saved thousands of jobs. Well you know what, sometimes a job is not worth saving.
